Haji Somuj Miah

Haji Somuj Miah arrived in the UK in 1965, moved to Oldham in 1968 and worked in the Mills. He began volunteering at the local Coppice Community Centre, offering Bangla & Islamic studies for children that did not have access to these studies.

 

From 1986 to 1990 he was the treasurer for the Bangladesh Association and held the Treasurer position to 2 years for Jogonathpur Probashi Shongo organisation.

 

He has been a Senior Advisor for 27 years. He has been a member of the Masjid ul Aqsa since the 1995 and in 2000 became the Mutawali of the Masjid. He is currently 1 of 5 trustees of the Masjid.
